Occupational Therapy

A child’s primary occupation is playing and learning. Occupational therapists can evaluate children’s skills for playing, school performance, extracurricular activities, and daily living activities and compare them with what is developmentally appropriate for that age group.

At Joyful Motion, occupational therapists utilize a sensory integration approach to achieve these goals through individualized and motivating interventions. Occupational therapy helps children adapt to their environment and enhance their self-esteem and sense of accomplishment

We strive to look at the whole picture and not individual symptoms or deficits. Our Occupational Therapists provide comprehensive evaluations assessing the entire child, including areas of sensory processing/modulation, activities of daily living, fine motor skills, visual perception, visual motor skills, handwriting, auditory processing, strength, range of motion, coordination, motor planning, body awareness, and behavior.

Our therapy sessions look a lot like play, but each activity has been carefully planned and organized by our therapists to address all the skills needed. In addition, the activities are graded to each child’s skill level and adjusted to provide the right amount of challenge.
